Clarendon Hills Split-Level Kitchen Addition and Renovation
Split-level homes often present a unique challenge. Changes in elevation can interrupt flow and leave spaces feeling disconnected. That was the case with this Clarendon Hills home, where the layout limited how the family used both the main and lower levels.
The approach focused on more than adding square footage. A kitchen, breakfast, and mudroom addition created the opportunity to rethink how the home works from end to end.
The expanded plan introduces a highly functional mudroom, dedicated laundry, integrated storage, and a private home office. These spaces are designed to support everyday routines while keeping the main living areas organized and efficient.
Just as important is how the home now connects. The new layout improves circulation between the kitchen, living spaces, and backyard, while also strengthening the relationship to the lower-level family room. What was once a secondary space now feels like a natural extension of daily living.
Material selections bring warmth and personality into the home. Clean cabinetry, natural finishes, patterned tile, and wallpaper create a layered environment that feels both refined and comfortable.
The result is a thoughtful transformation of a split-level home. By addressing both space and flow, the design creates a more connected, livable, and functional environment for everyday life.
