Kitchen Addition & Outdoor Living | Apex, NC
This Apex home was reimagined through a carefully integrated kitchen addition and outdoor living transformation, designed to strengthen the connection between the home and its wooded surroundings.
At the center of the project is a new kitchen and dining addition defined by a vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams. Natural light pours in through expansive windows and doors, creating a bright, open environment that feels both grounded and inviting. A large central island anchors the kitchen, paired with custom cabinetry in a rich, muted palette, warm brass accents, and a mix of painted and stained finishes that add depth and character.
Just beyond the main kitchen, a dedicated scullery provides additional prep space, storage, and secondary appliances; allowing the primary kitchen to remain clean, functional, and focused on gathering.
The addition opens directly to a series of outdoor living spaces, including a covered porch with timber framing, a bluestone patio, and a built-in grilling area. These spaces are layered intentionally, creating zones for cooking, dining, and lounging while maintaining a seamless flow back into the home.
Inside, the project extends beyond the kitchen to include a broader reworking of circulation and interior character. New millwork, wall paneling, and carefully selected finishes bring consistency throughout the home, while moments like the patterned powder bath and detailed cabinetry introduce personality in a refined way.
The result is a home that feels significantly larger and more connected; not just in square footage, but in how it lives day to day. Indoor and outdoor spaces work together, the kitchen becomes a true hub, and every detail contributes to a cohesive, elevated experience.
